Winkler Plastic Appoints Industry Veteran as Vice President of Operations
Alan Franz brings 20+ years of operations vision and leadership to company.
February 6, 2013, Vernon, CA---Paul Stals, President of Winkler Plastic, announced that Alan Franz joins the company as Vice President of Operations.
Franz comes to Winkler from PWP Industries, where as Vice President of Operations he was instrumental in developing systems and processes that enabled PWP to dramatically expand its sales and operations. Following the purchase of PWP by Pactiv Corporation, Franz stayed on with Pactiv to assist integrating Pactiv, PWP, and Reynold’s PET operations. Prior to that, Franz spent ten years at Pactiv Corporation.
At Winkler Plastic, Franz will drive incremental improvements in operations, help the company expand product offerings and manage significant capital investment projects to support the company’s growth.
“Alan brings extensive skills and experience that will accelerate Winkler’s growth and success,” said Stals. “His expertise in the operations, engineering and logistics areas of the packaging industry is a huge asset to Winkler.”
Recognizing the need for greater resources to take advantage of growth opportunities it saw in late 2010, Winkler Plastic partnered with and received an investment from Carlin Capital Partners.
“Winkler has been on a fast-track for growth these past two years,” Stals said. “We continue to see expansion among our current customer base as well as growth in new market areas. Winkler Plastic Adds Experienced Manufacturing Executive to Management Team
Paul Stals brings knowledge, leadership and expertise to support the company’s rapid growth
January 23, 2012, Vernon, CA---Colin and Chris Winkler, founders of Winkler Plastic, announced today that they have hired Paul Stals to join Winkler Plastic as its new CEO. This move enables the Winklers to focus more of their time and energy on delivering industry-leading products and service to customers.
Stals brings an extensive and diverse management background to the company, with a strength and expertise in manufacturing and operations. He comes to Winkler from Valet Waste, where he was VP of Operations. Prior to that, he spent fifteen years as President of Intrex Global Solutions, leading its sourcing, automotive machining and hinge manufacturing divisions.

Signature dome enhances the look of cakes with a modern design
 September 1, 2011, Vernon, CA---Winkler Plastic announces the launching of a new signature series cake packaging line, an innovative alternative to the traditional fluted products.
“This attractive dome provides an outstanding view for cakes, excellent clarity and strength, and a solid lock on the base", says Chris Winkler, vice president. “The Signature domes are also versatile: they can be inverted into a cookie container or used for multiple options within the in-store supermarket bakery.”
The new signature domes – as all of Winkler Plastic packaging – are made from 100% P. E. T. E., the most recycled plastic in the world and the material of choice for supermarkets and food processors.
“We have already commenced shipments to several national-scale processors and have received rave reviews relative to performance and quality,” says Winkler. “Additionally, the tooling is insertable, so we are going to be able to customize certain sizes. Winkler Plastic Expands Line of P.E.T.E. Containers with New Shape
Plastic bowl with domed lid is an elegant, eco-friendly addition to stock container line
 April 20, 2011, Vernon, CA---Winkler Plastic announces the addition of a 10” bowl, with an 80 oz. liquid capacity, to their existing line of plastic containers designed specifically for the food industry.
“This is a brand new shape for us and the first of a series of new products that we’re introducing this year,” said Chris Winkler, vice president. “This bowl has excellent clarity and its elegant shape makes it particularly effective in showcasing a maximum amount of product. Plus it has great appeal for the consumer because it makes a great serving bowl. A specially-designed domed lid keeps the product fresh and protected.”
“While we initially created it for fruit, it’s ideal for other produce, including salad and salad kits,” Winkler said. Carlin Capital Partners Makes Growth Equity Investment in Winkler Plastic
Leading manufacturer of P.E.T.E. plastic containers for food products industry now positioned for expansion
January 27, 2011, Vernon, CA---Winkler Plastic, LLC announced today that it in the fourth quarter of 2010, it received a significant equity investment from Carlin Capital Partners (CCP). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Winkler Plastic is a leading manufacturer of PET-based plastic containers primarily serving the bakery, produce, confectionery and snack segments of the food products industry. The Southern California-based company was founded in 2008 by Christopher and Colin Winkler, each of whom possesses more than 20 years of experience in the plastics manufacturing industry.

Colin Winkler is serving as the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chris Winkler its Executive Vice President, focused primarily on sales.
